Basic Spice List (Little Secrets)

The best thing about making a curry dish is that the measurements need NOT be precise. Smell the spices and use more of the ones you like best.

If you do not have a spice accessible; don’t stress, simply leave it out!

Spice Board

Minimum list:

  • turmeric powder
  • sweet paprika powder
  • coriander powder

Additional basics:

  • cumin powder
  • black mustard seeds
  • cumin seeds
  • star anise
  • cinnamon/cassia sticks
  • dried chilies powder/flakes

Fresh basics:

  • bay leaves – dry or fresh
  • curry leaves – fresh
  • coriander leaves – fresh

This paste is the biggest secret to a successful, accessible, supermarket jar free, easy curry.

Make it in bulk and store in the fridge.
